Emma Knight - Bloom and Baby Doula
🌿
Birth & Postnatal Doula in South West London

I'm Emma. Hello!
I love cuddling babies, walking dogs, cooking big nourishing meals, and baking treats that are far too indulgent to justify but too good to skip. I’m happiest either planning something (a street party, a school fundraiser- I can’t help myself) or in bed by 8pm with a gripping novel or a binging a gritty crime series.

I care deeply about the world we’re bringing our children into. I teach climate education in local schools and started a grassroots recycling initiative in our neighbourhood. I value fairness and kindness and I’m open and accepting of different perspectives but I’ll always gently speak up if something doesn’t feel right or at least enquire further. That sense of advocacy naturally flows into my doula work too.
Why birth?
Birth has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. There’s something astonishing about how instinctive it is. I once read that a woman in a coma can give birth and that stuck with me. Our bodies are miraculous. When they’re given the right support and space, they often know exactly what to do.

But most of us weren’t raised to believe that. We grow up with images of bright hospital lights, people shouting over us, legs in stirrups, and emergencies unfolding. It's no wonder so many people approach birth feeling fearful, disconnected from their instincts, and unsure how to find their voice in the room.

For me, pregnancy and birth were the beginning of a big mindset shift. I explored breathwork, mindfulness and how to soften into the process rather than brace against it. I knew I wanted to keep things as natural and physiological as possible and with the right preparation and support, I was able to labour in the pool each time and birthed two of my babies in the water. Those experiences changed how I saw myself and what I was capable of. They also showed me just how powerful it is to go into birth feeling informed, supported and in tune with your body.
Supporting you through it all
After being made redundant, I finally found the push I needed to do something I had been quietly pulled toward for years. I trained as a doula, qualified, and stepped fully into this role. I haven’t looked back.

As a birth doula, I’m here to support you and your partner through one of the biggest, most transformative experiences of your life. For me, birth education is where it all begins. When you understand what your body is doing and what your choices are, you can decide what’s right for you in each moment.

When labour begins, I bring continuity of care- a calm, experienced presence who already knows you both and who you know and trust. I support you and your birth partner emotionally and physically by helping you navigate the medical system and using my experience to gently guide you when needed, so you can work together in a way that feels right for you. Whether that means asking for more time, more information, or more space, I’ll be right there to help you make decisions that reflect your needs and values.
Life after birth
Then comes the bit after the baby arrives- the messy, magical, sometimes mind-melting postnatal period. Even with a supportive husband and helpful family, I remember feeling overwhelmed when I had my children. Definitely with baby number one, but especially with baby number three. There were moments I thought, how am I meant to do this? How is anyone?

That’s why I love supporting new families. Whether it’s holding the baby so you can nap, cry, or shower in peace (or all three at once), helping with the dishes, talking through your birth story, or simply being someone who gets it- I'm there. The transition into parenthood is intense. You don’t have to do it alone.

Want to talk?
Choosing a doula is about connection. It’s about finding someone who feels like the right fit for your family during this incredible time.

If you think that might be me, I’d love to hear from you.
