Emma Knight - Bloom and Baby Doula

Birth & Postnatal Doula in South West London

Birthing with a Doula

The birth of a baby is one of life’s most powerful moments.

Being invited into that space is always a privilege. As a birth doula, I provide calm, continuous, and personalised support from the moment we decide to work together. My care begins in pregnancy and continues through labour, birth, and those precious first hours at home.

My role is to help you feel informed, confident and cared for, however your birth unfolds.

I offer practical comfort measures such as breathing techniques, supportive positions, gentle massage, and hands-on help tailored to what you need in the moment. Whether it’s holding your hand, speaking up for your preferences, or simply being a steady, reassuring presence, I’m there to support you every step of the way.

This is a team effort.

I also work closely with your birth partner so they feel prepared, involved, and empowered. Together, we create a calm and connected environment where you both feel part of the experience. My aim is to help you approach birth as a team, supported and united in your choices.

Support doesn’t stop once your baby arrives.

I remain with you in those first magical hours, helping you settle in, supporting feeding if needed, and ensuring you feel safe, heard, and cared for. After you’re home, I offer follow-up postnatal visits to support recovery, provide emotional reassurance, and help you adjust to life with your newborn.

This is your birth: your body, your choices, your experience.

My commitment is to offer continuity of care and kind, practical support so you feel respected, informed, and truly supported, with a familiar face by your side from pregnancy to parenthood.

Birth Doula Roadmap

Let’s have a chat

We’ll start with a relaxed, no-pressure Zoom call to see if we’re a good fit. We’ll talk about your journey so far, your hopes for birth, and I’ll explain how I work and the support I offer. No stress, no expectations, just a friendly conversation.

Ongoing Support

Once you’re signed up, I’ll set up a WhatsApp group so you can reach me easily with questions or just for reassurance. I’ll check in regularly as your due date approaches to make sure you feel ready and supported.

Getting to know each other

Before we dive into birth prep or perinatal massage, we’ll take some time to connect. Think of it as a casual meet-up to make sure you feel comfortable and confident with me by your side.

Antenatal Support sessions - more info here

There are two pathways to choose from.

Antenatal Support includes three three-hour sessions from the comfort of your own sofa. These sessions cover birth preparation, your preferences, and any questions or worries you may have, giving you practical guidance and confidence for labour and the early weeks with your baby.

Hypnobirthing includes everything in Antenatal Support, with an additional three-hour session, making four sessions in total. This pathway adds evidence-based Hypnobirthing techniques for relaxation, breathing, visualisation, and self-hypnosis. These tools help you stay calm, manage anxiety, and feel empowered during labour. It is perfect if you want extra mental and emotional preparation alongside practical birth guidance.

Labour & Birth Support

I am on call from 14 days before your due date until your baby arrives. You can contact me any time, day or night, and I will be no more than an hour away. When labour starts, I will provide continuous support for you and your partner until you are settled with your baby.

Baby Support

After your baby arrives, I will visit you at home for one postnatal session. It is a chance to reflect on your birth experience, talk through questions about feeding or baby care, and check in on how you are doing. I am also available by phone or email for six weeks after birth, offering advice, reassurance, or just a listening ear.

Additional Support

I have a TENS machine for hire, a pregnancy book library to borrow from, links to helpful podcasts and articles, and I am happy to accompany you to appointments. Pregnancy, birth, and beyond, I am here whenever you need me. Once your doula, always your doula.

Back up Doula

In the rare event I cannot be at your birth, you will still be fully supported. I work with a small group of experienced doulas who share my approach and values. You will meet your back-up doula in advance, so you feel comfortable and prepared.

Flexible Options

No two parents approach birth in the same way, so I am happy to make the package suit you. Maybe you’ve had a birth or two already and want less antenatal preparation and more focus on birth support. Let’s have a chat and see if we can swap sessions around, add an extra postnatal visit, and tailor the package to exactly what you need.

"After a rocky first birth, I knew I wanted a different experience the second time around, so I hired a doula. Emma was everything I could have hoped for and more. I went into labour feeling informed and confident and I wasn’t afraid to ask questions or push back when I felt pressured. In the end, my birth didn’t go quite how I imagined, but I’m genuinely happy with it because I made the choices. That made all the difference."
